    James 1:19-27

Do you ever think about how our society pushes us to express our opinions? We instantly share our ideas on social media, we jump quickly to judgment, we feel empowered when we say what we think. The problem is that we are so concerned with being heard that we actually miss out on understanding and learning from the people around us.

In his letter to a scattered people, James reminds us that Jesus, even with all the wisdom and knowledge of God, took time to listen and understand people. Only then did he take action to care for those people. We need to be like Jesus -- quick to listen, slow to speak, and moved to action to help the lives around us.
