The Vision
WHAT IF WE SAW REVIVAL IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST?
What if the Gospel went viral in this region? We are convinced that to reach a generation you have raise up young leaders from that generation and then unleash them to make a real di!erence.
THAT’S WHAT WE’RE DOING THROUGH RISE INTERNS.
We aren’t waiting for young people to graduate from college and “earn” the right to lead. No. We’re not out-sourcing the God-given assignment of ministry training to colleges and universities—because the time is now to see a movement of God, the call to lead starts at a young age, and the eternal destiny of a generation hangs in the balance.
THAT’S WHY WE’RE LAUNCHING A SCHOOL OF MINISTRY AT RISE CITY CHURCH.
We are training young people up in sound biblical theology, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus, to lead by example, to recruit and mobilize teams, to think strategically, and ultimately, to pick up the baton of the Gospel and carry into the unreached people group of their generation.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Are you passionate about Jesus and His mission? Do you love to serve the local church? Are humble and hungry to learn? Are you ready to hustle hard—to contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints? Are you called to lead a movement? It is no small honor to serve God’s church, and we want you to be trained for the work.
Each generation of the church in each setting has the responsibility of communicating the gospel in understandable terms, considering the language and thought-forms of that setting

THE CHURCH
RISE EXISTS TO RISE UP AND SATURATE OUR CITY WITH THE GOSPEL
We are a Gospel-centered, Jesus-exalting, leader-raising, lost-seeking church in the center of the city of Gresham Oregon. By grace, we are seeing un- believable Gospel-fruitfulness.
Between countless baptisms and hundreds of leaders raised, God has been sovereignly moving among us. We don’t consider this a trophy to flaunt but a responsibility to steward. That’s why we feel it’s so important to invest in young leaders.

THE LEADER
NOLAN TJADEN LEADS RISE INTERNS.
Nolan started his journey at Rise by launching our youth ministry in 2016. He’s a regular preacher on Sundays, on our leadership team, and recently started our young adults ministry in 2020.
He and his wife Lindsey have three littles Ollie, Remy and Capri. They love old surf music, working on house projects, reading theology, and too many trips to Chick-Fil-A.

What Will Training Actually Look Like?
LEADERSHIP DISCUSSION
Imagine every week, meeting for an hour of discussion around the week’s leadership reading, learning together by watching some of the best church leaders on the planet, and engaging in serious dialogue about life and theology.
Afterward, our team leaders gather for a second hour of discussion to apply what we’re learning in real life. Discussions will revolve around big events, planning services, who has potential for leadership, what wins we are seeing in ministry, and what could improve, and how we’re going to to do that.
HANDS-ON MINISTRY EXPERIENCE
During the week, you’ll do things like: developing a ministry vision, recruiting team members, running and leading that team in ministry, organizing your team toward goals, running planning center services, leading a small group, writing and sending public communication, various administrative duties, evangelizing and praying for the lost and new believers, planning for big events, and if relevant, speaking and preaching upfront.
COACHING & DEVELOPMENT
The key leaders of Rise will be pouring into Rise interns. Personal discipleship is required for interns, and they must choose a personal discipler/mentor from a mature believer in our church of the same gender.
In-depth leadership training will happen through our pastoral sta! and key leadership. We’re going to ask questions about the ministry you’re involved in, press you to think outside the box, and help coach you toward greater fruitfulness in ministry. There will be regular check-ins once a month where you will be assessed, given valuable feedback, and receive coaching as a leader.
COMMUNITY & CONNECTION
One of the most important aspects of leadership development is not just leading a team, but being a part of a core team of leaders. We will foster an environment where interns are both learning and just generally having fun together. Between events and time to hangout, this is more than a mere academic experience, it’s a community of young leaders being truly known and building life-long friendships.
