City Group Values

Jesus-Centered

We keep the main thing, the main thing.  Jesus is at the center of every discussion and it is evident that He is the reason behind all that we do.

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28

Welcoming

We are passionate about others and accepting of all.  We are known for being inclusive and welcoming the outsider by treating them like they truly fit.  We create atmospheres that remove barriers and put others at ease.

“Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers” Hebrews 13:1-2

Fruitful

We facilitate healthy discussions that produce positive change in the lives of those who attend our group.  We stay aware of elements that may hinder fruitfulness of our discussions, growth, or group as a whole.  Because of our group, others are taking steps closer to Jesus.

“Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” Colossians 1:10

Real Friendships

People are excited to come to group because of the friendships that form.  We are known by each other.  We understand that others experience loneliness and we are delighted to become their friend.  Our love for each other is displayed through our actions.

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Romans 12:9-10

Pursuing

We don’t wait for others to come to us, we go to them.  When we feel that someone may be experiencing pain or hurt, we don’t stay quiet… we reach out.  We actively look for lonely people on Sundays and invite them to our group.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” Luke 19:10

Caring

We help meet internal and external needs of those in our group.  Our care for each other is displayed through conversations, prayers, and actions.  We care because Jesus cares.

“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” 1 Corinthians 12:26
