"I asked the Lord to give me this child, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” 1 Samuel 1:27-28
A Baby Dedication event is an opportunity for parents to publically declare that you want to raise your child to develop their own relationship with Jesus Christ. At Rise, we believe dedicating your child to the Lord is a special moment in the life of every parent and child. Raising a child to follow Jesus isn’t about merely protecting them, but more about preparing them for a life of kingdom significance.
What your are committing to by dedicating your child:
1. You commit your best to lead your child into a growing relationship with Jesus (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
2. You commit to teach, train and displaying biblical values to your child (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
3. You commit to be a part of a local church, to have a christian family surround you with support, encouragement and correction. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
A baby dedication isn’t just for the parents though: it’s for the entire church. It’s a moment for a church family to hear from parents and learn how they can come around to support the discipleship of this young child and encouragement of their parents.

Can a single parent participate in a child dedication service?
Yes! Child dedication signifies the commitment of parents (including single parents) to do their best to raise their child to be a follower of Christ. We highly encourage single parents to dedicate their child and commit themselves to raise them biblically, even if it is currently without the presence or partnership of a spouse. As a church, Rise is committed to supporting single parents in providing a Christian foundation for their child’s upbringing.
